Our Story

Uncle Goyo’s was created from the same spirit that built the Tacos-N-Ganas food trucks. After years of serving Memphis with the bold, street-style flavors our community came to love, we wanted a place where people could sit down, slow down, and enjoy those same real Mexican tastes in a warm, welcoming setting.

Our restaurant gets its name from Greg “Goyo” Diaz, the founder of both brands and the youngest of ten siblings from Mexico. Greg grew up surrounded by family, good food, and the kind of hospitality that makes everyone feel like they belong. Those roots shaped the culture behind Tacos-N-Ganas, and they continue here at Uncle Goyo’s — not as a tribute, but as a natural extension of where we come from.

At our core, we are a Mexican restaurant run by Mexican families. Our food carries the flavors and street-food DNA we were raised on, blended with the comfort and atmosphere of a casual cantina. Every dish is made with care, using ingredients and traditions that go back generations — the same kinds of meals served in our parents’ and grandparents’ kitchens.
